Spa Treatments You Can Do At Home

As a lover of nature, organic products, and all things DIY, I thought that this post would be an interesting read if we talked about DIY spas! Mother Nature has blessed us with an abundance of good resources all containing hidden beauty secrets and elements. The joy of Doing It Yourself means that you get to experience these natural miracles taking place for yourself. Things like Chocolate, yogurt, strawberries, heavy cream, and honey are not just yummy–they are beauty. For example, check out this interesting and easy, quickly-lather-it-on-and-wash-it-off, spa recipe I came across:

DIY Choco Spa
1/3 cup cocoa
3 tablespoons heavy cream
3 teaspoons cottage cheese
1 /4 cup honey
3 teaspoons oatmeal powder

Mix all these ingredients together and smooth in onto your face, under your chin, and around your neck. Relax and let the ingredients do the talking. Rinse it off with warm water after 10 to 15 minutes and feel the difference!

I think I know what my next project for that extra tin of cocoa in my pantry will be! As you can see, the way to charm yourself into a spa does not necessarily have to burn a hole in your pocket or smash the already broken pieces of your piggy bank. I personally love DIY at home spas because they are simple, affordable, don’t require a drive to town, and can be done at any time of day that best fits my schedule.

As most women know, the hours of the day when the best parlours are open is when we are at the office. Closing hours are pretty much aligned as well. Sadly the manicurists, pedicurists, and spa specialists need to go home and have a break too. But as the old saying goes “if you want it done, do it yourself”!

Another absolutely delicious spa set of ingredients is this Thanksgiving spa scrub that I think was absolute find!

Thanksgiving Spa!
1 tablespoon fresh apple mash or apple sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Mix all the ingredients together, being sure not to leave sugar lumps, and then apply it to your skin using circular motions. Because apples are rich in nutritional benefits, are 85% water filled, and are loaded with potassium and Vitamins A and C, they are a rich and healing ingredient for your skin. I’ve found this scrub to be perfect for removing dead skin cells and surface dirt from elbows, knees, and feet.

Exfoliating too does not have to be rocket science. But doing so will make your skin feel sweet as sugar and soft as butter. It can be done at home using simple ingredients like table salt, sugar, ground coffee, or other what have you rough ingredients. One simple concoction is to put one part table salt into a jar or small pot, along with two parts olive oil. Give it a gently stir and then apply with love! Rub it into your skin, rinse, and remove. You can use the same approach exchanging Vitamin E oil for olive oil and the salt for sugar or ground coffee, but don’t use instant granules…it’s melts down to a messy procedure…true story! 😉

Not to launch a sales pitch with this bit of info, but there’s this unique bath salt product out by Dead Sea Spa Magik. It’s relatively cheap, lasts for ages, and does wonders for improving skin texture and tone. The Dead Sea Spa Magik bath salt is also wonderfully relaxing because it’s got bromides, magnesium, and potassium that help to soothe away any aches and pains.

On an ending note, don’t forget that spas are meant to be pleasure pools for renewal, rejuvenation, and relaxation. They are important for health, beauty, and peace. Happy spa time!
