15 Things Only Girls With Curly Hair Understand

woman with curly hair

I recently came across this amazing list on Beauty High about the 15 things only girls with curly hair understand, and as someone who’s had to deal with curly hair my entire life, I felt compelled to share it with you guys.

As much as your straight haired friends can try to understand, curly hair is something that can’t be fully grasped unless you have it. Some days you look like you could be in a shampoo ad, while other days it looks like you’ve awoken some kind of beast that’s now sitting on top of your head. If you’ve got curly hair, you know exactly what I mean.

So here are 15 things only girls with curly hair will understand:

  1. Rainy days are the devil.
  2. When you’re at the movies and someone behind you says they can’t see over your hair.
  3. Girls with naturally straight hair constantly say they wish you had your hair. (They’re wrong)
  4. A morning with curly hair is like a box of chocolates: You never know what you’re going to get.
  5. If you want to use a curling iron, you need to use a blow dryer and/or straightening iron first.
  6. Bangs are not a possibility.
  7. Your hair will never look the same way twice.
  8. When you straighten your hair, no one will shut up about how your hair looks so much better like that.
  9. The underside of your hair — which is seen by no one ever — always looks flawless.
  10. The second you decide to put your hair in a ponytail, there’s no turning back.
  11. Brushes are a joke.
  12. You and your curly-haired friends will have hour long conversations about which products work best.
  13. You’ll never know what it’s like to straighten your hair in less than an hour.
  14. Frustration builds when one side is curlier than the other.
  15. You can never try a new hairdresser. Once you find one that works, you’re bound for life, or until they move.

How many of these things can you relate to?

Review: T3 Featherweight 2 Hair Dryer

T3 Featherweight 2 Dryer

The T3 Featherweight 2 is a top-of-the-line dryer that styles your hair up to 75% faster than regular dryers and is healthier for your hair than air drying, dramatically improving your hair’s health, body and shine.

The secret? Proprietary T3 Tourmaline and enhanced SoftAire Technology that generates a greater volume of air and weaves it through the dryer at the ideal temperature and velocity, enriching it with negative ions and healthy infrared heat along the way. This allows you to dry larger sections of hair at a time, faster and healthier.

The Featherweight 2 is clinically proven to be healthier than air drying, with up to:

  • 73% Reduction in Frizz
  • 86% Increase in Body
  • 19% Increase in Shine
  • 33% Increase in Comb-ability
  • 48% Increase in Style Retention

Given my long thick curly hair, this was all I needed to hear.. If it even lived up to half of those claims, I’d be happy. And let me tell you, the results really blew me away!

When I first picked up the Featherweight 2, I couldn’t believe how light it was! No wonder they call it the Featherweight. It’s a huge difference from my old hair dryer, which was a beast that would leave my arm sore after 20+ minutes of use.

The biggest draw for me was the reduced drying time, and again the T3 lived up to the hype. The Featherweight 2 cut my dry time in half, from 20 minutes to just 10 minutes! And I could really see a difference in my hair, less frizz, more body, and a nice shine.

This video shows you the technology behind the T3 Featherweight 2:

My husband appreciates the fact that the dryer is nice and quiet, as the noise from my old dryer would sometimes wake him up in the morning. 🙂

The dryer has 3 heat settings (Hot / Warm / Cool), a cold shot button, and two speed settings. It’s versatile enough for all hair types. The switch/button placements are well thought out and easy to operate.

T3 Featherweight 2 Dryer

The T3 Featherweight 2 completely exceeded my expectations. It’s like the Rolls-Royce of hair dryers, and there’s no way I’ll ever be able to go back to a lesser dryer. Now I see why Miranda Kerr, Solange, and Octavia Spencer used the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i for their big night at the Oscars.

If I had one complaint, it’s that the SoftTouch 2 Diffuser doesn’t come with the hairdryer. Considering that the T3 Featherweight 2 costs $200, you’d think they could include that. Regardles, I’ll be ordering one shortly, as a diffuser is a must-have for me!

Is the T3 Featherweight 2 really worth $200? In my opinion, absolutely!

Review: Infiniti Pro by Conair Instant Heat Ceramic Rollers

One of the great things about Winter is that I can blow out my hair and use hot rollers without worrying about humidity interfering with things.

When I was in high school, my Mom would let me use her Clairol Travel Hot Rollers, and she eventually let me keep me. Fast-foward twenty years, and I’m STILL using them! I really like these hot rollers, but lately the edges have been breaking off.

I can’t tell you how mamy times I’ve burnt my fingers. But I guess that’s what happens after 20 years of wear and tear with my thick hair.

I’d finally had enough, and I decided to try a newer updated hot roller. After researching the different options out there, I decided to go with the Infiniti Pro by Conair Instant Heat 20 Ceramic Flocked Rollers.

I wasn’t sure how my hair would turn out, given the fact that I’ve never used ceramic rollers before. But the curlers actually did a great job! The rollers heated up pretty quick, and the clips that came with them were super easy to use. The rollers come in four different sizes – Jumbo, large, medium, and small. This was great, since my older rollers were all one size.

As you can see from the before and after photo below, my hair turned out awesome. As an added bonus, they included a bottle of Argan Oil Treatment, which took away any frizz that I had and made my hair feel extra smooth and shiny.

Overall, I’m very happy with my decision to go with the Infiniti Pro by Conair ceramic rollers. They’re reasonably priced ($39.99 at most retailers), they work as advertised, and the results speak for themselves!

If you’re in the market for hot rollers, definitely give these a shot!

On The Hunt For Frizzy Hair Relief

frizz monster

The best thing about summer is being able to break out the flip flops and soak up some Vitamin D from the sun! However, there’s one downside to the summer and the humidity that comes along with it, and that’s my thick curly frizzy hair.

I’m so thankful to have natural curls, but there’s also a price to pay for them. As such, I’ve been on a mission to find the right product that can get me through the summer months. And let me tell you, it has not been fun.

My first attempt was John Frieda’s Style Crème and Mousse. John Frieda is well known for their Frizz Ease line, and while it has lots of good reviews online, I didn’t like it. It did help a little with the frizz, but my hair felt very crunchy afterwards. On to the next one.

My next stop was Walmart, as one of my friends suggested I try the La Bella Styling Gel and Dove Hair Spray. Her hair looks great everyday, so I figured I’d give these products a shot. Well, even though she has curly hair, our hair makeup must be different, as by Noon, I was all frizz and fed up.

After that, I stopped in at Ulta and decided to give the high-end Deva Curl product a try. I bought their Styling Cream – It was a bit pricey, but I was hopeful that this would do the trick. Nope, it did not tame the frizz. On the plus side, my hair felt soft afterwards. Last night on my way home from work, I returned the Deva Curl and told the girl at the register that I could not get a break and pretty much had given up.

She suggested I try Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Defining Styling Lotion and Curl Enhancing Styling Foam. I am so happy to have found these products, as they do everything that the bottles have promised and more!

So if you have unmanageable frizzy hair like me, give these Marc Anthony Strictly Curls products a try, you won’t be disappointed!

5 Easy Methods To Promote Healthy Hair

healthy hair

As you know, losing hair is a major problem in men as well as in women. There are several types of products available in the market for hair loss treatment. Some of the people choose shampoo, soap and some of the other conditioners which are designed to maintain healthy hair, but these products may help you only from outside.

First, you should have to find out the causes of hair loss, and then try some of the healthy steps as follows:

Keep your hair hydrated: I always recommend you to keep your body hydrated. As you know, dry hair also one of the big causes of hair loss. If you drink water frequently to keep your hair hydrated, then it may help you recover from hair loss.

Healthy foods that support hair growth: If you’re serious about your hair, then you should eat foods that contain rich vitamins that promote hair growth. The foods that contain iron-rich protein are more responsive foods to promote hair growth. There are some of the other healthy foods like salmon, eggs, brown rice and coconut oil to support healthy and long hair.

Comb your hair gently: Don’t go rude while brushing or combing your hair. I advise you to brush your hair very slowly and softly and don’t comb your hair very frequently.

Head massage: If you get a head massage weekly or monthly, it could be beneficial for your hair. A head massage will improve blood circulation to your hair roots. This is also a great method to grow your hair naturally.

Trim your hair: If you are get your hair cut more frequently, it may help your hair to grow faster. So it’s a great idea to trim your hair 2-3 times a year if you want your your hair to grow quickly.

Keep Your Hair Looking Fresh With Dry Shampoo

I have thick curly hair, and while I’m lucky enough to have the natural curls that others chase after, every now and then I like to blow out my hair.

Normally I wash my hair every other day.. But when I blow my hair out, I want to keep that look going a bit longer. The solution? Dry shampoo.

Usually when I don’t wash my hair for a couple of days, it become oily. But dry shampoo removes the oils from your hair, leaving it looking fresh and clean. And it also adds body!

When I first started using dry shampoo, I could only find it at beauty stores.. I started using Oscar Blandi’s dry shampoo, and it was a great product – But not worth $23 for a small 3.2 oz can, which went pretty darn quick.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush

These days, you can find dry shampoo virtually everywhere, and there are a lot more reasonably priced brands to choose from. Last summer while shopping at Ulta, came across a large selection of dry shampoos. After trying a few different ones, I settled on my favorite one – Batiste.

A 6.73 oz can of Batiste costs $8, and it works just as well as the more pricey stuff I used to use. If you’re looking to try dry shampoo for the first time, I highly recommend trying Batiste. And be sure to come back and let us know what you think of it!

How To Grow Your Hair By Improving Your Diet

Healthy Hair Growth

One of the biggest factors that go into the equation of hair loss treatment and having long hair is the food that goes on your plate. Believe it or not, you are what you eat is actually true. If you want to look and feel good it starts with having a healthy diet that is well planned.

Plan a Menu

I find that going to mall and just tossing in the cart what looks good to me at the moment is not actually a health idea. I generally end up with things like Nutella and instant noodles, that in themselves are not bad things, but too often is not good for your body. During the last few months I’ve found that if I plan what I should be eating and not just what I want to eat I actually feel better. Eating well even does loads for your hair. Hair doesn’t thrive on oily, sugary, or salty foods. So planning to cook at home and what to cook at home means that you can regulate things yourself. Not only that, but planning your meals for the week actually helps you to save money as well. I read an article from a magazine at the dentist’s about one mom who saved a considerable amount of money at the end of the month just by not ordering pizza. Apparently, every pizza that she did not order was able to save $20. A pretty good start!

Taylor Swift - Straight Hair vs Curly Hair

Every type of hairstyle has its own benefits in terms of how healthy it is for your hair and how pretty it looks. Hair straightening has gained much popularity in recent years. As more and more women have started taking on professional roles and that too of a high caliber, looking neat and elegant has become inevitable. The sleek hair look that comes with straightening your hair has been adopted by most women nowadays. A sleek hair style looks neat and professional; a woman wearing such a hairstyle projects serious business.

Many women are blessed with beautiful curls. While sleek hairs may be the current trend, curls aren’t passé. Curls give an overall heavy and voluminous look to your hair. If you have scanty hair growth, then you may opt for hair perming to gain curls in your hair. On the other hand, if you are gifted with a full bunch of hair, then you may go for hair straightening to make them look more streamlined.

If you have a round face, a straight hair look will make you look more matured. If you have an oval face, you may try a curled hair look as straight hair and a long face will make your face look even longer.
