Review: Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House

Del Frisco's - Outside

Over the weekend, I convinced my Hubby to take me to Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in Philadelphia for date night. We drove into the city, spent a few hours walking around and doing some window shopping, and we topped things off with a great dinner. I’ve been wanting to go here for awhile now, having heard great things about it from various friends, so I was excited to finally try it out for myself.

The space that Del Frisco’s Philadelphia occupies on the ground floor was once the First Pennsylvania Bank, and many of the bank’s key traits are still intact. In fact, go downstairs and you’ll see that they’ve converted the vault into a private dining room, it’s really a sight to behold. The whole restaurant has amazing décor, and if you’re a fan of classic architecture, you’ll love dining here. They just don’t build ’em like this anymore.

The bar is another stunning feature of the restaurant, with more drinks on display than I’ve ever seen before. Despite that inviting bar, I decided to stick with ginger ale.

When we visited Del Frisco’s, they had a pre-fixe menu that gave me the chance to try a few different items from their menu, all for just $50! I ordered the Caesar salad, loaded baked potato, filet mignon, and a crab cake. Honestly, it was one of the best filets I’ve ever had, and the same goes for the crab cake. The filet had a nice rub seasoning, and it was cooked perfectly. The crab cake was awesome because there was no filler added to it, it’s all crab goodness.

My husband also went for the pre-fixe, and he got the wedge salad, loaded baked potato, filet, and scallops. He too enjoyed his meal. We debated on dessert, but after eating all of that food, we were too stuffed to even attempt it. The next time I go, I want to try the chocolate soufflé cake.

FYI, if you’re a soda drinker like me, be forewarned that they charge you $4 per soda, and refills aren’t free. I found this out the hard way, when we got the bill. Ouch!

Still, despite that minor road bump, we still had a phenomenal night, and I can’t wait to come back here again. The food was great, the service top notch, and the ambiance was something else. Del Frisco’s has locations in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Worth, Houston, Las Vegas, New York, and Philadelphia.

If you’re near any of these cities and looking for a great place to go for date night (or if you just want a great steak), be sure to visit Del Frisco’s. You won’t be sorry!
