Celebrate The Fall With Pumpkin Bread

When I went to the grocery store today, they had cans of pumpkin puree on sale. That planted the seed in my head, and the next thing you know, I was shopping for pumpkin bread ingredients!

Food blogger Jenna Weber posted up a delicious pumpkin bread recipe, which I’ve posted for your convenience below:

Ingredients:
4 cups flour
3 cups sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
½ tsp allspice
½ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp ground ginger
4 eggs
1 cup canola oil
1 15-oz can pumpkin puree
2/3 cup water
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Beat together the oil, eggs, pumpkin puree, sugar and water in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground cloves and ground ginger. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well. Add the walnuts at the end, making sure to get all the ingredients incorporated from the bottom of the bowl.
  4. Divide the batter equally between two greased 9 x 5” loaf pans.
  5. Bake loaves for 60-80 minutes, until loaves are golden brown and baked through in the center. Let cool for five minutes in the pan then invert onto a cooling rack and cool completely before slicing.

Yield: 2 loaves

Review: BRIO Tuscan Grille

BRIO Tuscan Grille is one of my favorite restaurants. BRIO’s food is simply prepared using the finest and freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on high-quality steaks, home-made pasta specialties and flatbreads prepared in authentic Italian wood-burning ovens.

Since two of our friends from the West Coast were visiting us, we decided to take them to BRIO for dinner. Our friend Tommy is Italian, so he had high expectations going in. He ordered the ravioli dish you see above, and he absolutely loved it!

I ordered the Lobster Bisque, and it was out of this world. I’m very critical when it comes to lobster bisque, and theirs just blew me away! My husband loves the burgers here, but I can’t believe that the same burger that costs $3.95 during Happy Hour costs $12.95 on the regular dinner menu..

BRIO recently launched a loyalty card program called MyBRIO Rewards, and you’ll earn a FREE appetizer just for joining! You’ll also receive special member rewards throughout the year, including a complimentary birthday entree (up to $15), as well as other dining discounts. It’s free to join, so you might as well sign up now.

‘The Babymakers’ Shoots Comedy Blanks

The Babymakers absolutely BOMBED at the box office. And after watching this movie last night, I can see why it did so bad!

Here’s the premise of the movie:

After trying everything to get his wife Audrey (Olivia Munn) pregnant, Tommy Macklin (Paul Schneider) realizes to his horror that he may be “shooting blanks.” Terrified that his marriage may fall apart, Tommy recruits his friends (and an Indian ex-mobster) to rob a sperm bank where he made a deposit years ago. As with any half-baked scheme, everything can and does go wrong, testing the limits of Tommy and Audrey’s relationship.

With Jay Chandrasekhar at the helm and Olivia Munn in the starring role, I was expecting non-stop laughs. Unfortunately, the movie didn’t deliver at all.

As one critic describes it: “The Babymakers” is amazing in its complete lack of comedy, nearly satirical in its rejection of levity and full-on embrace of mediocrity.

Such a disappointment..

The Cabin In The Woods – Worst Movie Ever!

I’m a sucker for a good horror flick. Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., Hostel, Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre – I love ’em all!

So when I heard all the hype surrounding The Cabin In The Woods, I just had to see it. So I woke up early yesterday morning and reserved the movie on Redbox. And after dinner, we sat down for what we thought was going to be a real frightfest.

Before renting the movie, I checked on sites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB and saw that the movie received extremely high ratings. All I can say is, “WTF?”

This was one of the WORST movies I’ve ever seen. Ridiculous plot, horrible acting, and a dumb ending. A real horror movie has you on the edge of your seats, whereas this movie had us struggling to stay awake!

It’s funny, because if you go into the IMDB forums for this movie, you’ll find others who hated this movie as much as we did.

It’s one of those movies that you’ll either love or hate. Consider yourself warned..

Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Got Married!

Ryan Reynolds secretly tied the knot to Blake Lively! The 25-year-old “Gossip Girl” star and her 35-year-old “Green Lantern” co-star got married Sunday night at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Fun fact: The main house on the Plantation was used as Allie Hamilton’s (Rachel McAdams) summer home in “The Notebook.”

Locals were tipped off to the nuptials when Blake’s mother was spotted in the area over the weekend … as was famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin. (The bride wore shoes created for Blake by the designer for the ceremony)

CELEBUZZ reports that Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine performed at the reception.

Ryan Reynolds is SOOOO hot! Blake Lively is one lucky gal.

Impractical Jokers Is Back For Another Season!

Impractical Jokers is one of the funniest shows on TV, bringing me to tears every time I watch it!

The show features four friends who dare each other to do crazy stuff to random people in public, and the results are hysterical. Check out the video below, where one of the guys convinces some customers in a car show room to climb into the trunk together:

It’s an absolute riot, and it’ll bring a smile to your face no matter how bad your day’s been. It airs on TruTV, Thursdays at 10pm.

My favorite episode? The one where they’re stealing food off of other people’s plates at a buffet. 😀
